A’ja Wilson has ended the 2025 WNBA regular season in impressive fashion, setting multiple records along the way. After an impressive campaign in 2024, Wilson has followed it up with another year of notable performances that have sparked debate over whether she is one of the best to ever play the game. Her last two seasons may well be remembered as the greatest two-year run in WNBA history.
Why A’ja Wilson’s 2025 Season Could Be the Greatest Two-Year Run Ever
A’ja Wilson’s Impressive Back-to-Back Records
A’ja finished this year ranked first in points, rebounds, and blocks per game. That achievement is rare enough, but she has now done it twice. She first accomplished it in 2024, when she actually led the league outright in all three categories.
Only two other players in history have managed to be top two in points, rebounds, and blocks in the same season—Lauren Jackson and Lisa Leslie. Jackson did it in 2003 and 2007, and Leslie in 2004. Wilson has now joined them with the added distinction of doing it in back-to-back seasons, a feat no one else has matched.

The 29-year-old’s scoring numbers have been just as remarkable. Wilson finished 2025 with 937 total points, the third-highest mark in WNBA history. The only seasons ahead of her are Jewell Loyd’s 939 points in 2023 and Wilson’s own record-setting 1,021 points in 2024. That means she owns two of the top three scoring seasons ever recorded, both coming in consecutive years. In terms of pure scoring consistency, no one has done what Wilson is doing now.
Wilson also led the league in points per game, rebounds, blocks per game, and efficiency rating. She finished first in both offensive and defensive win shares, showing that she was the most effective scorer and also the most valuable defender. She pulled down more rebounds than anyone else, altered more shots at the rim, and scored with a level of efficiency that left no doubt she was the best player on the floor almost every night.
Wilson Is Ready For Her Next Challenge
What makes this run historic is not just her impressive form in one season, but the way Wilson has sustained it over two. The WNBA has seen players have brilliant peaks. Jackson had MVP years spaced four seasons apart. Leslie’s 2004 was legendary in its own right. Loyd’s 2023 scoring outburst set records, but it stood alone. Wilson has strung together two consecutive seasons that both rank among the best the league has ever seen, showing consistency that few can match.
This two-year run demonstrates something bigger than numbers. Basketball history is filled with short bursts of brilliance, but true greatness is measured by how long a player can remain at the very top. Wilson has proven that her 2024 was no one-season wonder. She has followed it with another campaign that confirms her greatness is sustainable.
The regular season is only part of the story, and Wilson’s next challenge will be to carry this form into the playoffs. Another championship would only strengthen the case that these two years mark the greatest run in WNBA history. But even without a title, Wilson has already changed the conversation. She has given the league back-to-back seasons of scoring records, defensive dominance, and all-around brilliance that few thought possible.
