RC Buford first saw Victor Wembanyama as a 15-year-old in the junior game before a future NBA draft pick. That day changed the Spurs’ future and made them reorient their next 4 years for a chance to draft him. The fruits of that plan were evident in Paris. nytimes.com/athletic/60805… – 10:49 AM

😳 Victor Wembanyama tried to go at Ivica Zubac after getting shoved to the ground, but his Spurs teammates and the staff held him back!
😊 Eventually, Zubac and Wemby made up after the game.

SGA has 43. He’s taken 19 of OKC’s 23 FTs. The Warriors have taken 20 FTs.
Still, SGA’s isolation dominance is kinda hampering the Thunder’s offense, which is down to 40.3 percent. Jalen Williams (15) and Isaiah Joe (14) are the only OKC players with more than 4 points – 12:14 AM

Asked Tyronn Lue about starting games vs Spurs better, and also Clippers offense vs Victor Wembanyama.
When Wemby is on the floor, Spurs allow only 108.9 points/100 possessions. When Wemby is off the floor, Spurs allow 115.6 points/100.
That’s like going from 4th to 25th. pic.x.com/ie3itbbN5G – 6:55 PM

I see there’s a lot of talk today about young, talented defensively gifted wings.
Let me just mention Jalen Williams is 23 years old, and a premier defensive player that also averages 21-5-5 + 1.8 steals per game.
Players doing that this season:
– SGA
– Jokic
– Luka
– Dub – 5:13 PM

A pro scout told HoopsHype about Dylan Harper: “He could end up being better than Flagg. He’s not the most athletic, but he has that ‘slow-fast’ pace to his game. Offensively, I think Harper has a higher ceiling than Flagg. Worst case, as a lead guard, he’d be like [Anthony] Black – but Harper moves better and scores at a much higher level. His ceiling feels Jalen Williams-esque – a versatile player who can function as a guard or has the size to be a point-wing, it really depends on how a team develops him. Harper is a better shot creator than Flagg and makes everyone around him better. He moves like a wing but plays like a guard.” -via HoopsHype / January 22, 2025
As expected, league sources say those trade talks include the team that is known to be De’Aaron Fox’s preferred destination: the San Antonio Spurs. Yet while it remains to be seen if Fox will become Victor Wembanyama’s co-star in the next week, or if the Spurs might be able to push the negotiations into the offseason as a way to simplify their roster-building process while not losing out on Fox to another team, key factors here will have to be figured out if Fox is going to land in San Antonio. Chief among them? The possible Stephon Castle inclusion, or potential lack thereof. The Kings are known to covet the Spurs rookie guard who was taken fourth overall out of Connecticut in the NBA Draft last June, but there is serious skepticism in league circles that San Antonio will be willing to include him. If that’s ultimately the case, the Kings would have to determine whether there’s an acceptable pathway to doing the deal without him. That’s not the end of San Antonio’s considerations, either. -via New York Times / January 30, 2025
