Paul George has a number of teams interested in giving Paul George a four-year contract even as the Los Angeles Clippers continue to limit their own offer to three seasons.
“To this point, the Clippers have only been willing to offer Paul George about what they gave Kawhi Leonard,” said Brian Windhorst on Get Up on Wednesday. “Three years at a little bit less than the max contract, and Paul George, frankly, wants four years. He wants a full out max and there are a number of teams out there, I am told, that are prepared to give it to him, who are prepared to trade for him. One of those teams, potentially, is up the coast in Golden State.”
The Warriors continue their strategy of pursuing a big star to add to Stephen Curry following their trade deadline pursuit of LeBron James. In order for the Warriors to acquire George, they would need the cooperation of the Clippers by Saturday. The Clippers are prepared to call George’s bluff and see if he really wants to leave Los Angeles.
The Warriors have an option date on Chris Paul to consider while also working on a potential new deal with Klay Thompson. Golden State is believed to want to pursue their trade options before circling back to Thompson even if that means him going to the open market.
