Trying to end a losing streak against crosstown rivals the LA Lakers, Kawhi Leonard continued to show up and prove to everyone that he’s still one of the best in the league. It wasn’t even enough, as the Clippers lost to the Lakers on the road, as well as the season series against the Lakers. Whenever the ball is in his hand, Leonard is always locked in and takes over the game. In the loss against the Lakers back on Sunday, Kawhi had probably his best performance so far since he came back from his injury this season. Kawhi Leonard posted 33 points and 10 rebounds in 40 minutes off the floor.
In the fourth quarter against the Lakers, Kawhi Leonard was very vocal during the game, especially because the Clippers were getting into foul trouble against the Lakers. Kawhi Leonard had two points in that quarter in the loss against the Lakers. Ty Lue pointed out after the game, that he likes Kawhi being the team leader and being “vocal to his teammates”. Fans know that Kawhi is a relatively quiet individual, though it hasn’t been the case ever since he got to the Clippers in 2019. Kawhi has already established himself in an amazing career both as a starter and leader for a team like the Clippers.
Fans at the game and on social media have also witnessed that Kawhi Leonard has always stepped out of his comfort zone regarding his teammates like Zubac and how he played in the last game against the Lakers back on Sunday. Zubac scored on a post-up from Kawhi with under 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Despite losing the game and season series to the Lakers, Kawhi is always going to be the leader of the team.
