With the Clippers inching back into the play-in position as well as playoff position, James Harden passed Shaq on the NBA All-time scoring list.
James Harden surpassed Shaquille O’Neal for ninth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list Monday night, with a 3-pointer in the 3rd quarter against the Charlotte Hornets at home.
He moved his career total to 28,598 points in his 1,187th regular-season game.
Harden’s ascension to ninth place represents remarkable consistency across 17 seasons, a testament to durability at a position historically ravaged by injury and declining athleticism.
Harden’s current production arrives as a 34-year-old, now operating in a different role. Harden still shows everyone why he’s still a valuable key player in the league. Harden entered the night 14 points behind O’Neal, a gap he systematically erased through the game’s progression.
Both Harden and Kawhi Leonard have been at a superstar level over the last couple of weeks for the Clippers, which is helping the team climb back into the Western Conference standings.
The Clippers, who were 6-21 to start the season, are now 16-23 and sit one game below 10th place in the Western Conference for a spot at the play-in tournament.
Harden’s success through his 17-year career definitely shows why James Harden will be in the Hall of Fame one day.
