The Phoenix Suns are struggling and it makes everybody on the team nervous. Kevin Durant came to Phoenix to chase a championship title. Yet, this season, the Suns do not look like a playoff team, let alone a championship contender. Right now, they are out of the play-in seeds. The stress and anxiety reached a new height against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday afternoon. Durant and Mike Budenholzer had another heated exchange during a timeout.
Durant and Budenholzer Have Another Heated Timeout Exchange
Some ten days ago, the cameras caught Durant and Budenholzer exchanging words during a timeout. After that incident, KD defended the relationship. He said,
“He allows me as a player on the team, a veteran on the team, to voice my opinion. If we both didn’t care, we would never have stuff like that, you know what I’m saying? So I’m glad that the win is going to sweep all of that stupid stuff under the rug. Because people couldn’t wait. Even some people in Phoenix, in here, couldn’t wait to run with that and say, ‘This is the reason why the team ain’t playing well, because of that specific thing. But come on, man, that shows that me and Bud really care about trying to right this ship and trying to win basketball games.”
This time, with the Lakers storming out of the gate against the Suns, KD showed his frustration during a timeout. While Budenholzer was talking, Durant got up and the two had a heated exchange.

Is Kevin Playing His Last Days in Phoenix?
The Suns tried to trade Durant at the trade deadline. But they couldn’t find a partner. After the deadline, there were a couple of reports about how KD felt betrayed by the organization. And it seems like his frustration gets the best of him more often than not. We will have to wait and see how Durant defends this exchange with Budenholzer during a timeout. Right now, it seems like every member of the Phoenix Suns is waiting for the season to end.
There are already rumors that Bradley Beal might be willing to accept a trade. Durant will have only one year left on his contract, making him a potential biggest fish on the market in the summer. Suns owner Mat Ishbia says they will never trade Devin Booker, but in this league, nothing is forever. Heck, nobody could see the Dallas Mavericks trading Luka Dončić, but it did happen.
Things Will Not Get Better for the Suns
The Phoenix Suns have the toughest schedules remaining until the end of the season. If they continue playing badly, which is a huge possibility, we will potentially see a lot more Kevin Durant and Mike Budenholzer exchanges.
Until the end of the season, the Suns have only three games against teams lower than them in the standings. They welcome the Toronto Raptors on Monday evening. Then they play the Chicago Bulls on March 19th. They finish off the season against San Antonio Spurs on April 11 for their 81st game of the season. In the meantime, they play the Celtics twice, the Cavaliers, the Knicks, the Warriors, the Bucks twice, the Thunder, the Rockets, the Kings, and the Timberwolves.
