Month-and-a-half into the NBA season, the LA Clippers are already looking like a team that’s more of a rebuilding team than a playoff team.
Clipper fans know their team should be good, though with injuries and chemistry issues, the Clippers’ record right now, at 5-16, really shows why they are not even in a playoff or play-in position.
The Clippers’ 5-16 start is the team’s worst month in the franchise’s 56-year history.
The team is currently at the bottom of the Western Conference standings heading into December.
Clippers players and coaching staff told the media that the team really needs to “wake up” and get rolling before it’s too late. The Clippers recently blew a 16-point lead in the NBA Cup game on Friday against Memphis, and then suffered an embarrassing loss to Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks.
The Clippers, who have now lost 13 of 15 games in November, including last night against Miami, to begin December as the franchise’s worst month in its history, need to find ways to get out of the losing slump. Looking back at previous Clippers teams, the team suffered many losses. Clipper fans who have been with the team since the beginning witnessed the team losing 20 games to start a season, even when the team was in Buffalo, the team also had a terrible record to begin a season at 4-15 in December 1970.
March 2010 was really the last time the Clippers lost 13 games in a month. The problem is that this team has really aging players like Kawhi, Harden, and Chris Paul. With not much depth, though still talented, it’s really hard to question why this team is in the position they’re in, with a losing record heading into December. The Clippers haven’t had a losing record since before getting Chris Paul.
At the current pace, the Clippers are projected to win about 20 games this season.
This would definitely be the worst record the Clippers would get in such a long time.
Clipper fans are hoping that their team will still be able to turn things around, or at least give them something to cheer for in the next couple of months in the NBA season.
