The Clippers’ front office staff had numerous needs to improve and take the next steps in winning a championship.
With the budget they had, they were able to acquire key players and re-sign valuable ones, while still having money left over to get other key players.
Brook Lopez
One of the big-name free agents the Clippers went out and got was Brook Lopez.
He’s a vital addition for the Clippers, as he will be the backup center for Zubac this upcoming season. Last season, Lopez posted 13 points per game, 5 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks. The signing is also nice because, though it’s a 2-year deal, he can opt out after 1 season.
John Collins
John Collins (3-team trade with Utah) John Collins had a great season with Utah, even though they finished last in the Western Conference.
Collins posted 19 points per game, 8.2 rebounds, and as well as 52.7% overall in shooting.
Batum and Harden Re-Signed
Both Batum and Harden opted out of their contracts with the Clippers and got newly signed deals in a cost-effective way to stay with the Clippers.
Batum and Harden played a key role in helping the Clippers clinch a playoff spot this past season.
The Clippers’ additions will look to help Los Angeles take the next steps in winning the NBA Finals.
