The long NBA season has its ups and downs, and with expectations high for the Clippers this season, the team hasn’t met them yet.
The Clippers are on a 4-game losing streak, after starting the season at 3-2. Even with the most experienced and loaded roster in the NBA, the Clippers are currently under .500.
Though the Clippers have gotten to see improvements from Zubac, who had 23 points and 11 rebounds in the loss last week against the Suns, John Collins had 13 points, and Bogdan Bogdanovic had 12 points. The Clippers need to improve on limiting turnovers and transition defense. The Clippers have also struggled with keeping their star players healthy. Kawhi is out due to an ankle injury.
One bright spot for the Clippers this season is the development of Cam Christie in his second NBA season.
Christie had 17 points off the bench, shooting 5-for-7 from the field. Cam Christie also went 2-for-three from the three-point line. Cam Christie’s improvement from last season is one of the main reasons the Clippers drafted him. Christie is a solid defender and a good scorer who can really help dictate the game for the Clippers.
For the Clippers to get back to where they need to be — a NBA championship contender this season — they need to rely on their stars to step up, like Harden and Derrick Jones Jr. Zubac and Dunn are both doing their part to carry the team. Still, Harden needs to carry the team as a true leader for the Clippers.
Head coach Ty Lue knows his team is really good, but the way it has been playing so far, he needs to make changes to get it back on the right track.
