LeBron James’ youngest son, Bryce James, put on a show in front of a sold-out crowd at the Hoophall Classic. He dazzled the crowd with his performance, which helped him win the MVP of the day. With Bryce committing to play college basketball at Arizona, are we heading to a new historic LeBron father-son moment?
Bryce James Wins Hoophall Classic MVP, What is Next?
Bryce finished the Hoophall Classic game with a career-high 16 points, at one point drilling four three-pointers in a row. He also had a dunk in Sierra Canyon’s 60-46 win over Grayson of Georgia. Bryce was named MVP of the game, playing against some hyped players like Caleb Holt.
The fans at the arena cheered for Bryce every time he touched the ball. At one point, he committed a foul, and the crowd booed the PA announcer. When he grabbed a rebound, the crowd took a gasp. The Hoophall Classic was a great show-off for Bryce James, who will continue his basketball journey at Arizona. The question many fans have is whether he might make it to the NBA while his father is still in the league.
LeBron made sure to bring attention to his son. During the entire game, he was active on social media. After the game finished, he wrote, “So proud of you Maximus!!! I literally just shed a tear! PROUD POPS!!”
Can LeBron Play With Both Sons?
James, a senior at Sierra Canyon High School, is a highly-ranked player by 247 Sports’ composite rankings. Before committing to Arizona, he had offers from USC, Ohio State, and Duquesne. He elected to have a different career path than his brother, Bronny James. Bronny spent the 2023-24 season at USC and was a second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Lakers got him with the 55th pick.
Here is a fun fact: for now, the Lakers have their 2026 draft pick. Whether they will use it on Bryce James is a different question. They also have their own 2027 second-round draft pick if Bryce decides to stay longer in college.
LeBron has a player option with the Lakers for the 2025-26 season. At the end of that contract, he will be 41 years old. He will be the one deciding whether he wants to extend his career. If he elects to play for one more season and get a chance to play with or against Bryce, LeBron will celebrate his 42nd birthday that year.
When is Bryce James Eligible for the NBA Draft?
Bryce has to spend one year at college to be eligible for the NBA Draft. That means he will have to play out 2025-26 before entering the 2026 NBA Draft. He can also play two years at college before getting into the 2027 draft. It is a matter of how he will continue his development through college.
One thing is certain, Bryce and Bronny will be NBA players, making LeBron one-of-a-kind. If Bryce makes it to the NBA, LeBron will be the only player with two of his sons playing in the league.
Bryce on Playing with LeBron
Just days after Bronny and LeBron had their historic moment, Bryce talked on TikTok about the possibility of him joining them in the league as well. He said, “I ain’t gonna lie, that is OD. Waiting until I, naahhhh, that is too much. He will be 42, bro.”
His friend on TikTok suggested that if Bryce goes one-and-done at college, it will not be that long before he can play with or against Bronny and LeBron.
