Thursday in the Dodgers minors, Oklahoma City scores 16 runs, Alex Freeland drives in six, Justin Dean scores five runs, and Eriq Swan struck out eight.

It was another clean sweep for the Dodgers’ minor league affiliates, with a blowout win in Triple-A and a tight victory in Double-A.

Player of the day

Zyhir Hope had himself a game, with four hits, a home run, a stolen base, and a runner thrown out at home plate. For all that goodness, he is knighted POTD.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

Justin Dean scored five runs, Alex Freeland drove in six runs, and Chuckie Robinson got four hits as the Comets put up gaudy numbers to defeat the Reno Aces (Diamondbacks) 16-3. Matt Sauer started the game for the Comets and got the win, pitching six innings and giving up three runs. Blake Treinen pitched another perfect inning. Now that he has pitched on two consecutive days, expect his next appearance to be with the Dodgers. Nick Frasso, ranked by MLB Pipeline as the Dodgers’ 28th best prospect, pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Double-A Tulsa

Consensus top Dodgers pitching prospect Jackson Ferris allowed only one run, and four relievers held the Springfield Cardinals scoreless as the Tulsa Drillers pulled out a 2-1 victory. It looked like the Drillers might get shut out for the second game in a row, but Kyle Nevin cashed in a triple by Kole Myers with one out in the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly, and the game went into extra innings. Myers then singled in designated runner Taylor Young with a game-winning, walk-off single.

The night for Ferris has come to an end.

Used a lot of FB-Slider/Sweeper 2l1st time through, then 2 Seam change up 2nd time.

Fastball tails, so hitters lean, which gives them NO chance on the left turners.

That’s 1 great combo!

Then, the 2 Seam and change… pic.twitter.com/1NLjMugjI1

Low-A Rancho Cucamonga

Despite getting outhit 13-5 and making four fielding errors, the Quakes pulled out a 7-6 victory over the Visalia Rawhide (Diamondbacks) in eleven innings. The Quakes tied the game with a three-run eighth inning, Jaron Elkins doubled to score two, and Jose Meza drove in Elkins with a sacrifice fly.
