Zyhir Hope & Josue De Paula Headline Dodgers Named To Baseball Prospectus Top 101 List For 2025 Season

January 15, 2025 by Dodger Blue

The Los Angeles Dodgers and success throughout their Minor League system have become synonymous with one another. That notion is backed up with Baseball Prospectus’ latest Top 101 prospect list that featured five talented names for the Dodgers.

The group of Dodgers prospects is led by Zyhir Hope (No. 8), and he’s joined by Josue De Paula (No. 9), Dalton Rushing (No. 22), Jackson Ferris (No. 52) and Alex Freeland (No. 82) on the Baseball Prospectus top 101 list for 2025.

Acquired in a trade with the Chicago Cubs last year, Hope has skyrocketed since joining the Dodgers organization. Batting .290/.419/.484 with 16 doubles, nine home runs, 36 RBI and nine stolen bases across two levels this past year, he’s made immense strides.

The 19-year-old was one of six Dodgers prospects to appear in the 2024 Arizona Fall League and is the top player in their Minor League system.

De Paula was listed on last year’s list, moving up 39 slots and into the top-10. Between Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and High-A Great Lakes, he batted .268/.404/.405 with 17 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs, 62 RBI and 27 steals.

Among hitters with at-least 200 plate appearances at High-A in 2024, De Paula ranked 11th with a 136 wRC+ while being one of 12 players under 20 years old to register an at-bat at that level.

Rushing made the jump from Double-A to Triple-A this past year, showcasing his versatility in the field. In an effort to make him more of an attractive piece, the Dodgers shifted the 23-year-old from catcher, to left-field.

Between both levels, Rushing batted .271/.384/.512 with 26 home runs, 85 RBI and 69 runs scored. His overall data remained mostly the same when debuting with Oklahoma City, sparking conversation that he is soon ready to make the jump to the highest level.

Rushing was the Dodgers’ top pick in the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft and is still on track as one of their most all-around hitting prospects.

Behind him is Ferris, the other player also in the deal that brought Hope over from the Cubs. The big left-hander was excellent between High-A and Double-A Tulsa during his debut season.

Posting a combined 3.20 ERA over 126.2 innings at both levels, he recently praised the Dodgers coaching staff and player development for his immense strides.

Ferris is on track to debut in MLB during the 2026 season.

The surprising name on Baseball Prospectus’ list is Freeland. His value over the last year has jumped a great deal, flashing his switch-hitting prowess at three levels in 2024.

Playing the bulk of his time at Double-A, Freeland made the final jump to Triple-A, batting .243/.355/.396 over 39 games with OKC. As a whole, Freeland has shown a developed feel for the game and has used his high baseball IQ to become an opportunistic player.

The Dodgers will aim to lower his strikeout rate in 2025, and he perhaps can find a home at the Major League level at shortstop.

Dodgers lose international prospects

As the Dodgers wait for Roki Sasaki to decide on his team, they have already lost out on a few of their international signing commitments.

Darrell Morel was the first to change his commitment, choosing instead to sign with the Pittsburg Pirates. That was followed up by Orlando Patiño choosing to change his commitment to the Chicago White Sox.

The Dodgers also lost a commitment from Teilon Serrano as he too received a larger bonus upon signing with the Minnesota Twins
