Tuesday night in the Dodgers minor league saw Max Muncy starting a rehab assignment, playing six innings at third base for Triple-A Oklahoma City. Muncy, playing in his first game in 27 days since suffering a left knee bone bruise was hitless in his three at-bats.
Here’s what else happened on the farm to open the week’s schedule, including a lot of walks.
Player of the day
Zyhir Hope had three hits for Great Lakes, including a double, single, and this two-run home run, measured at 111 mph off the bat:

Triple-A Oklahoma City
A five-run seventh inning off the Comets bullpen broke open a close game in a loss to the Salt Lake Bees (Angels). Zach Penrod, who was acquired from the Red Sox on June 20 and is on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, walked four of his six batters faced in the frame to let in one run. Ryan Sublette followed and gave up a grand slam, putting a bow on the loss.
Shortstop Noah Miller, left fielder C.J. Alexander, and designated hitter Chuckie Robinson all had two hits in the loss, with one of Robinson’s hits a home run.
Double-A Tulsa
Drillers pitchers walked 12 in a loss to the Midland RockHounds (A’s).
Left fielder Kole Myers, catcher Nelson Quiroz, and shortstop Sean McLain all had two hits.
High-A Great Lakes
Plenty of praise to go around in the Loons’ shutout win over the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Padres).
Eduardo Quintero scored three runs after two hits, a walk, and a stolen base. Cameron Decker joined Hope in the three-hit club, including a double and two RBI. Kendall George stole two more bases, giving him 20 steals without getting caught in his last 13 games.
Maddux Bruns had his best and longest start of the season with five scoreless innings, with three strikeouts and three walks.
Catcher Carlos Rojas walked off the field limping after a play at home plate for the final out of the third inning, but he remained in the game the rest of the way.
Low-A Rancho Cucamonga
Two runs in the eighth inning off the Quakes bullpen tied the game, and a wild pitch by Ryan Brown in the ninth gave the Fresno Grizzlies (Giants) a walk-off win. Brown was in a precarious position, inheriting the bases loaded with nobody out in a tie game. He struck out his first two batters faced and got two strikes on Kevin Fitzer. But Brown’s final pitch got away, allowing the winning run to score.
Samuel Muñoz homered in the eighth to give Rancho Cucamonga an insurance run and the aforementioned two-run lead. Jaron Elkins singled home a run earlier and also stole his 52nd base of the season.
