Immediately following the Dodgers 5-4 ugly loss to the National League West third-place Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field on Tuesday, SportsNet LA’s Kirsten Watson caught up with 31-year-old Dodgers right-hander Tanner Scott, who began the bottom of the ninth inning by hitting D-backs first baseman Ildemaro Vargas with a 90.3-mph sinker. Scott then walked D-backs pinch-hitter Tim Tawa on four pitches. He then allowed a sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly to D-backs catcher James McCann and left fielder Jake McCarthy respectively, and just like that, the Dodgers once 4-3 lead was a tie-game at 4-4.
It gets worse.
Scott then served up a 90.2-mph meatball slider “right down Broadway,” (as they say) to D-backs shortstop Geraldo Perdomo for the game-losing walk-off single.

Scott’s train wreck was his 10th blown save of the season and his fourth loss to go along with his one win and absolutely begs for him being to be designated for assignment.
With the loss and a win by the NL West second-place San Diego Padres, the Dodgers lead in the NL West is down to an uncomfortable 1.5 games, with five games remaining in the 2025 regular season.
