Will Smith and Freddie Freeman were selected as All-Star starters on Wednesday after Phase 2 of the voting.
Smith and Freeman join their teammate Shohei Ohtani in the starting lineup on July 15. Dodger manager Dave Roberts will serve as the National League’s manager.
Ohtani was named an NL starter at designated hitter after receiving the most votes in the first phase of voting.
“Hopefully we get a couple more,” said manager Dave Roberts.
This is Smith’s first time being named the NL’s starting catcher and his third All-Star selection. Freeman will be starting in his fifth All-Star game in his ninth trip to the Midsummer Classic.
Smith leads the National League with a .320 batting average and .418 on-base percentage.
Freeman entered Wednesday second in the National League with a .308 average and ranks sixth with a .381 on-base percentage.
Freeman was baseball’s best hitter in May with a .410 batting average and ranked second with a 1.100 OPS.
This is Freeman’s fourth All-Star selection with the Dodgers. He has earned a selection each season since he joined the organization in 2022.
