Who will the Dodgers acquire before the 3:00 PM PT (6:00 PM ET) July 31 MLB 2025 trade deadline)?
The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies have significantly improved their respective rosters in their pursuit of the 2025 World Championship. The Dodgers have no choice but to respond with a similar commitment by making a substantial improvement to the current roster.
Tweaking the current roster will not get the job done! Barring unforeseen injuries, the Dodgers will be in MLB’s postseason tournament, but that is a low bar when the ultimate goal is winning the World Series. Unless the Dodgers make significant trades to improve the roster, they will be pressed to win the NL West division, and long shots for the NL pennant.
Will the Dodgers go all-in, parting with some combination of their top prospects in order to win now? With the trade of catching prospect Hunter Feduccia, catcher Dalton Rushing will not be traded, but their top prospect, outfielder Josue De Paula, cannot be considered untouchable at this point.
The Dodgers needs are well known, better offense and defense in the outfield and a dominant closer for the bullpen. And, a top-of-rotation starting pitcher would be ideal, allowing Shohei Ohtani to concentrate on hitting rather than pitching for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Closer
Athletics Mason Miller is the difference maker the Dodges need in the bullpen. The A’s will demand – and get – a terrific return. Perhaps a trade that will include A’s outfielder JJ Bleday in return for pitchers Dustin May, Ben Casparius, Edgardo Henriquez, and outfielder James Outman.

Outfielder and starting pitcher
Minnesota Twins outfielder Harrison Bader, utility Willi Castro, and starting pitcher Joe Ryan in return for Dodgers pitcher Emmet Sheehan, pitching prospect Jackson Ferris, minor league outfielder/first baseman Ryan Ward, and De Paula.
Expensive? Undoubtedly!
Worth the price? Absolutely!
With the additions of Bader, Castro, Miller, and Ryan (with Bleday available in minors), the Dodgers will be well positioned to repeat as World Champions in 2025.
Go Dodgers!
