A number of pitchers on LA’s 40-man roster currently reside in Oklahoma City, plus other intriguing arms.
The minor league season officially began last Friday, with Triple-A getting a week head start over the other minor league levels.
The Oklahoma City Comets, the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate played three games over the weekend, and got strong pitching from their first three starters:
- Nick Frasso: two scoreless innings Friday with two strikeouts, in his first game since 2023 after missing all of last season with shoulder and hip surgeries
- Carlos Duran: eight strikeouts in 4⅓ innings on Saturday, allowing one run. It was just the second career game in Triple-A for the 23-year-old signed out of the Dominican Republic in March 2018. Duran was a non-roster invitee this spring.
- Bobby Miller: 4⅔ scoreless innings on Sunday with four strikeouts, on the rebound from an injury-plagued and cursed 2024. Miller was second on the Dodgers in starts and innings as recently as 2023 and started a playoff game.
The Comets also have Justin Wrobleski and Landon Knack in their rotation, both of whom are on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster who saw plenty of major league time last season.
Other pitchers on the 40-man roster currently in Oklahoma City are Matt Sauer and Noah Davis, the latter acquired from the Red Sox on Thursday.
Today’s question is which Dodgers Triple-A pitcher you are most excited to watch this year?
For today’s purposes, let’s use the current Oklahoma City roster. Someone like Jackson Ferris, the Dodgers’ top pitching prospect after current major leaguer Roki Sasaki, will almost certainly pitch his way to Triple-A this season. But he’s not there yet.
There are other pitchers in Oklahoma City not on the 40-man roster. The full roster can be seen here. Please share your picks in the comments below.
