Today’s daily question revolves around Shohei Ohtani’s second season with the Dodgers. He won an MVP award in his first season with the team, and that was only by hitting (and running). In 2025, Ohtani will be a two-way player again after rehabbing from his second Tommy John surgery.
The question is when, exactly, will Ohtani first pitch in a major league game for the Dodgers?
Manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani pitching in May “sounds about right” (per Fabian Ardaya at The Athletic) but also that it “might be earlier” (per Jack Harris a the Los Angeles Times).
Back at the Dodgers fan fest on February 1, Ohtani said, “I think the biggest determinant is going to be when I first pitch my bullpen,” Ohtani said through an interpreter. “Then I think we’re going to really get a feel for when I’ll be able to be on a big league mound,” per Alden González at ESPN.
Let us know in which game you think Ohtani will first take the mound for the Dodgers in the comments below.
