Tony Gonsolin struck out two in an inning of work, and Mookie Betts got a pair of hits
No one got hit on the head, so that was a plus on the second day of the spring as the Dodgers faced the Cubs yet again, ultimately ending up with another blowout loss of zero consequence.
Speaking of that unfortunate incident with Bobby Miller, the right-hander showed encouraging signs today, just dealing with a bit of a headache, which is perfectly natural, and no fractures.
Fighting for his spot in a crowded Dodgers pitching staff, Tony Gonsolin showed promising signs in his spring debut, striking out two batters in his only inning of work. Gonsolin got Seiya Suzuki to punch out swinging after being down in the count 2-0 and later struck out the rookie Pete Crow-Armstrong on three pitches. Overall, the cat man had a relatively minor workload, tossing only 18 pitches, followed by another inning in the bullpen.

There was an update on the face of the franchise as Shohei Ohtani was slated to face live pitching earlier Saturday. This will be the first time that’s happened in spring training as the Dodgers DH looks to defend his MVP crown.
There was also an old friend alert as the Dodgers faced a familiar face in Phil Bickford who covered one of the innings for the Cubs in this 7-3 win

The list of exciting names is pretty large, and in the middle of it, a guy like Nick Frasso might go unnoticed despite carrying terrific upside. The young right-handed starter will take the ball for the Dodgers on Saturday against the Royals (12:05 p.m. PT, SportsNet LA). Recovering from multiple surgeries, Frasso had a lost year in 2024. Otherwise, it’s extremely likely he’d have been a factor with the big league club.
