LA is projected for the best record in MLB this season, but rather than how they’ll finish let’s take a guess at how they might start 2025.
The Dodgers are projected to finish with the best record in Major League Baseball this year. They ended with the best record last year as well.
PECOTA projections at Baseball Prospectus — which started with a 103.8-win projection for the Dodgers that was BP’s highest preseason projection in over two decades — has Los Angeles pegged for 103.4 in 2025 as of Monday.
FanGraphs projects the Dodgers for 96 wins this season, down from 97.6 wins on February 5.
But for today’s question I’m not concerned with where the Dodgers finish in the regular season, but rather how they start the season. Let’s look at the last four seasons to see when the Dodgers won their 50th game of the season, and how they ended up.
The Dodgers captured their 50th win by their 81st game nineteen times in franchise history, including in five of the last seven full seasons dating back to 2017. The fastest Dodgers team to 50 wins was Brooklyn in 1955. They started a staggering 22-2 and picked up their 50th win in their 67th game of the season, on their way to a 98-55 finish and the first World Series championship in team history.
Today’s question is on what date will the Dodgers earn their 50th win of 2025?
