With the Dodgers’ eight-game winning streak to begin the season now over, the accounting book is closed on a historic run.
The Dodgers lost 3–2 to the Phillies in Philadelphia on Friday and are now 8–1.
The Dodgers’ 8–0 record to start the season is the greatest in Los Angeles Dodgers history (since 1958) and third greatest in franchise history behind the 1955 Dodgers (10–0) and the 1940 Dodgers (9–0).
It’s the 17th winning streak in Major League history of at least eight games to begin the season.
The Dodgers won their final five games of the 2024 regular season, so they had a wraparound 13-game winning streak. That is tied for the longest winning streak in LA Dodgers history and the longest since 1965 (September 16–30).
Brooklyn had a franchise-record 15-game winning streak from Aug. 25, 1924 to Sept. 6, 1924. Brooklyn had a wraparound 14-game winning streak from Sept. 22, 1954 to April 21, 1955.
Yamamoto Continues to Thrive
Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s ERA is 1.69 after three starts this season.
He allowed one run on Friday. Phillies shortstop Trea Turner scored on Yamamoto’s throwing error in the first inning.
Yamamoto walked two batters in the third inning.
Otherwise, he was sterling.
The Phillies were a combined 0-for-13 against Yamamoto’s splitter and four-seam fastball with five strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .193 against him in three games.

Dodger Offense Comes to Life Late
The Dodgers pushed for a seventh comeback win this season with a Tommy Edman two-run home run in the ninth inning.
It was Edman’s team-leading fifth homer of the year.

But the game ended with pinch-hitter Max Muncy’s strikeout and pinch-runner Chris Taylor’s caught stealing.
Dodger baserunners were thrown out three times by Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto — including Shohei Ohtani in the eighth inning. Ohtani hadn’t been caught stealing in the regular season since July 22, 2024. He had 38 consecutive stolen bases over 2024–2025.
The Dodgers were held in check by Philadelphia starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo, who allowed two hits, two walks, no runs and struck out eight over seven innings.
