On Aug. 29, 1954, a Dodger lineup featuring five future Hall of Famers had the biggest extra-inning eruption in Dodger history. The Dodgers scored eight runs in the 11th inning against the Milwaukee Braves in a 12–4 victory.
Seventy years later, the Los Angeles Dodgers had their biggest extra-inning eruption since the club moved to Los Angeles.
The Dodgers, in a game they trailed early by three runs, came back to beat the Giants 14–7 on Saturday in 11 innings in San Francisco. The Dodgers scored seven runs in the 11th inning — a Los Angeles record for most runs scored in an extra inning.
The series of events included:
· Will Smith’s two-run double after Shohei Ohtani was intentionally walked, which gave the Dodgers a 9–7 lead. It’s the second straight game Smith followed an Ohtani intentional walk with a run-scoring hit.

· Freddie Freeman’s second double of the game and 24th of the year drove Smith in.
· Chris Taylor singled in a run.

· Jason Heyward tripled in two.
· Miguel Rojas drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly.
Rojas went 3-for-5 in the game with four RBI. The four RBI marked a season high and is the seventh time in his career he has driven in at least four runs in a game.

Smith went 3-for-6 in the game with three RBI.
Ohtani hit his 26th home run of the year — a solo shot in the third inning to cut the Giants’ lead to 2–1 at the time.

The Dodgers were 10-for-19 with runners in scoring position.
Beyond the offense, it was another game where the Dodger bullpen picked up the team.
Tyler Glasnow, excellent throughout the season, didn’t complete five innings for the first time this season. He was out after three inning and five runs allowed.
The Dodgers emptied out their bullpen, using eight pitchers. The group combined to go eight innings, allowing two runs — one earned.
The Dodgers took a 7–6 lead in the top of the 10th inning on a Rojas RBI single. But the Giants tied the score in the bottom of the 10th on a David Villar RBI-double against Daniel Hudson. Hudson loaded the bases with one out, and made it to the end of the high-wire by stranding the three runners.
That led to the top of the 11th and the Dodgers’ historic run explosion.
It was just 11 days ago when the Dodgers scored seven runs in the ninth inning in Colorado in an 11–9 comeback win — a game where they trailed the Rockies 9–4 heading into the ninth inning.
The Dodgers now have 17 comeback wins this season.
