Teoscar Hernández’s first year as a Dodger has been filled with special accomplishments.
He reached 20 home runs for the sixth time in his career and became the first Dodger to win the All-Star Game Home Run Derby. A positive presence in the batter’s box and in the clubhouse, the jovial outfielder is now the Dodgers’ nominee and team winner for the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) 2024 Heart & Hustle Award.
The overall winner will be announced in mid-November on MLB Network.
The award, given by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association in 2005, is presented annually to an active player who “demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game.”
This esteemed award honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game. The Heart and Hustle Award is also the only award in Major League Baseball that is voted on by former players. Voting is conducted prior to the All-Star break.
Hernández signed a one-year deal in the offseason and has quickly become a fan favorite with his power-hitting prowess and ability to drive in runs. Hernández is second on the Dodgers in home runs (22) and RBI (69) while ranking third on the Dodgers in runs (53), hits (107) and doubles (20). He was also named to his second career All-Star team.
