Shohei Ohtani Sets New Los Angeles Dodgers Record For Runs Scored

September 14, 2025 by Dodger Blue

Shohei Ohtani set a new Los Angeles Dodgers franchise record with 135 runs scored this season. Ohtani broke his own L.A. franchise mark from last year.

Ohtani achieved the feat Sunday by scoring on Tommy Edman’s base hit in the ninth inning for his 135th run of the season, which is also most in the Majors. He already had become the only player in Dodgers franchise history to twice score 120 or more runs in a single season.

Moreover, Ohtani set a Dodgers record for the fastest player to 100 home runs with the team. He did so in 294 games, to best Gary Sheffield hitting 100 home runs in 399 games with the Dodgers.

Ohtani’s power swing helped contribute to his Dodgers record for most runs scored, but the accomplishment is also indicative of production behind him in the lineup. That’s been despite the Dodgers entering in a collective lull for much of the second half.

The two-way star is in the midst of another impressive season at the plate. He entered Sunday leading the National League in slugging percentage (.612), on-base plus slugging (1.007), extra-base hits (78) and total bases (341). Ohtani also ranks second in home runs (49) and walks (103).

Ohtani’s 49th home run of the season traveled 454 feet to mark the longest hit by a Dodgers player this season. That honor previously belonged to Alex Call, who hit a 453-foot homer at Coors Field on Aug. 19.

Still within reach for Ohtani is the all-time Dodgers record for most runs scored in one season. That currently belongs to Hub Collins, who scored 148 runs for Brooklyn in 1890.

Another L.A. Dodgers record that Ohtani could break this season is walks. He currently is 103 walks, which is not far behind Jim Wynn’s record of 110 that was set in 1975.

Eddie Stanky holds the overall Dodgers record with 148 walks while with Brooklyn in 1945.
