Longtime third baseman honored before Friday’s series opener at Dodger Stadium.
Ron Cey was inducted into the Legends of Dodger Baseball on Friday night at Dodger Stadium. The longtime Dodgers third baseman is the ninth member of the selective group, joining Don Newcombe, Steve Garvey, Fernando Valenzuela, Maury Wills, Kirk Gibson, Manny Mota, Orel Hershiser and Dusty Baker.
In a pregame ceremony, the Dodgers played a video of Cey with several messages from former teammates and others.

At the time Cey’s autobiography was released in late 2023, he told True Blue LA he did not have a relationship with the Dodgers. But that has luckily been repaired to the point where Cey got the honor he deserved as one of the best players in franchise history. He ranks fifth all-time with 228 home runs for the Dodgers, and is top-10 in franchise history in WAR, RBI, and walks as well.
Josh Suchon called his first major league game on Friday night, on play-by-play for Rockies radio at Coors Field against the Twins. Suchon was a co-host of Dodger Talk on KABC from 2008-11, and has called games for the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes since 2013.
Love making trips to Denver. Even better when your friend and fellow @goaztecs.bsky.social alum Josh Suchon is making his #MLB debut on #Rockies radio (KOA).

During his time in Los Angeles, Suchon also called some Dodgers spring training games. He’ll also call Saturday’s Rockies game. Suchon wrote in his newsletter about the milestone, which came after calling 1,786 minor league games.
“This is not a dream come true. The dream is not to fill-in for two games. The dream is to call all 162 games in a season,” Suchon wrote on Thursday. “This is an opportunity that, hopefully, gets me closer to the dream and I’m extremely grateful.”
