The Los Angeles Dodgers World Series roster is out, and pitchers Alex Vesia and Brusdar Graterol, as well as shortstop Miguel Rojas are on it. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts sounded optimistic yesterday about the availability of all three but maintained that it was “a game-time decision.”

Dodgers Get Reinforcements on World Series Roster
Limited by Injury?
Miguel Rojas, the Gold-Glove shortstop, has apparently recovered enough to play in the Fall Classic. The veteran has had one of the best seasons of his career. However, he has been dealing with a hernia and a torn abductor muscle which have to be repaired in the off-season. It is an open question how much these injuries will affect Rojas’ range in the field. It already did in the Division Series against the San Diego Padres.
Much Needed Relief
Right-handed reliever Brusdar Graterol has yet to pitch in this postseason. He has been dealing with shoulder inflammation that has limited his availability this year. If he is healthy, then Los Angeles will welcome his sub-2.00 career postseason ERA.
Left-hander Alex Vesia has been a major cog in the Dodgers relief corps. Moreover, he was one of the more reliable options coming out of the bullpen in the highly-contested Division Series. Vesia missed the National League Championship Series against the New York Mets with an intercostal strain. Expectations are that he will be used in high-leverage situations, particularly against New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto.
Notable Absences
Right-handed reliever Evan Phillips is not on the roster because of “arm fatigue.” He has been dealing with it since the NLCS. Phillips was considered the Dodgers closer for much of the regular season. Right-hander Joe Kelly is also off the roster. However, he could be an option, according to Roberts, if there is an injury to the pitching staff.
Now that the roster is set, the only thing left is to play the games. The Dodgers hope, at the end of it all, there will be a parade in Los Angeles.
