Wednesday in the Dodgers minor leagues, Heubeck went a season-high seven innings, Edgardo Henriquez was throwing gas, and a scoreless streak for Ronan Kopp.
In Dodgers minor league games for Wednesday, July 3rd, the Oklahoma City Comets and the Tulsa Drillers pulled out wins in the final inning.
Player of the day
The Dodgers obtained 22-year-old Peter Heubeck in the third round of the 2021 draft, and he is in his fourth year with the organization. MLB Pipeline currently ranks Heubeck as the Dodgers’ 24th-best prospect. After a brutal start to the season for Double-A Tulsa, when he had a 6.97 ERA in May, Heubeck saw his ERA drop to 2.31 for his five starts in June. In his first start in July, Heubeck completed seven innings for the first time this season, giving up just one run on two hits.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
The game between the Comets and the Las Vegas Aviators (Athletics) drastically swung back and forth, with the Comets prevailing in the end for a 13-7 victory. Oklahoma City scored the first seven runs of the game, with a five-run sixth inning providing the bulk of that production. Edgardo Henriquez served as the opener for the Comets and retired all five hitters he faced.

Kyle Funkhouser replaced him and contributed two and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief. Down 7-1 entering the eighth inning, the Aviators jumped on Nick Frasso for four runs on four hits, including two home runs. The Comets were still up by two runs entering the ninth, and brought former major league closer Alexis Diaz into the game in a save situation. However, the Alexis Diaz resurrection is not going well so far, and in this game, he hit the first batter, walked the next two, and was removed from the game. The Aviators were able to tie the game and send it into extra innings, but the Comets said enough of that and exploded for six runs in the tenth, all with two out. The key hit was a bunt single by Justin Dean, which brought home the lead run and opened the floodgates. A two-run single by Alex Freeland and a three-run homer by Ryan Ward put the game out of reach.

Double-A Tulsa
The Drillers were able to piece three singles into a walk-off, game-winning run in the ninth inning, to defeat the Wichita Wind Surge (Twins) 2-1. Heubeck lasted seven innings, surrendering just one run on two hits. Center fielder Kole Myers had three hits for the Drillers. Ronan Kopp, pitching his thirteenth scoreless game in a row, struck out the side in the ninth inning.
High-A Great Lakes
The Loons won their game against the West Michigan Whitecaps (Tigers) 5-2. Wyatt Crowell started for the Loons and went four and two-thirds innings, giving up one run on three hits. Mike Sirota produced all the necessary offense with two hits and three RBIs.
Low-A Rancho Cucamonga
The Visalia Rawhide (Diamondbacks) scored the first seven runs of the game, and the Quakes couldn’t recover, ultimately losing the game 9-6. Quakes starter Samuel Sanchez was roughed up for seven runs on nine hits in three and one-third innings. Niko Perez had three hits and three RBIs for the Quakes, and Jaron Elkins had two hits and two runs scored.
