The Dodgers’ third deal on trade deadline day gives them right-handed hitting outfielder Alex Call.
Los Angeles acquired Call from the Washington Nationals for Minor League pitchers Sean Paul Liñan and Eriq Swan.
Call has appeared in 72 games this season and is batting .274/.371/.386/.756 with three home runs. He has a 119 OPS+ this season. That would place him seventh on the Dodgers behind Andy Pages (122 OPS+).
Call’s 0.72 walks-to-strikeouts ratio ranks 25th in the Majors among 278 Major Leaguers who have logged at least 200 plate appearances.
The 30-year-old is also batting .314/.359/.443/.802 against left-handed pitching this season.
In four seasons, he has a career .242/.342/.369/.712 slash line.
Call has played all three outfield positions in his career.
Swan was rated as the Dodgers’ №16 prospect by MLB.com. Liñan was rated №20.
Liñan, 20, has been with the organization four seasons with a 16–8 record and a 3.54 ERA. He has 264 strikeouts in 206 innings with a 1.20 WHIP.
Swan, 23, was 4–3 with a 4.43 ERA with High-A Great Lakes. He made 29 appearances (23 starts) in the Dodgers organization, going 4–4 with a 4.81 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 97 1/3 innings.
