Dalton Rushing likely knows he’s safe at the trade deadline. Dustin May, however, might not be so sure.
It’s almost over, folks: the trade deadline is almost here, and the end of this nightmare road trip is in sight. Maybe all the chaos will fade away once the gates of Blue Heaven on Earth are open once more. In the meantime, here’s whats happening today as the Dodgers prepare for another game in Cincinnati.
Dodgers Notes
Dalton Rushing made headlines with his callup this season, and he’s in the news again—this time as a potential trade target. But manager Dave Roberts says those rumors are so unfounded that he hasn’t even talked to Rushing about being moved, writes Bill Plunkett at the OC Register.
What about a rumor that might have legs? According to Jack Harris at the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers might be interested in trading Dustin May, who’s about to enter free agency. Several teams’ scouts have had their eyes on May, even though Roberts says that he’s disinclined to make any rotation decisions right now.
Max Muncy is beginning his rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City today, where he’s scheduled to play third base and get three at-bats, writes Sonja Chen at MLB.com. It’s unlikely that he’ll return to the Dodgers before the team heads back to L.A., but his full rehab schedule hasn’t been solidified yet.
The Dodgers have an eye for top prospects, and they’ve signed an interesting player to their farm system: Sam Horn, a rising senior, right-handed pitcher, and quarterback at the University of Missouri. Horn, who’s played just 15 innings over three years due to injury, received a $497,500 signing bonus and will return to Mizzou this year to compete for the starting QB role, writes Ehsan Kassim at USA Today.
