NLCS Game 3: Max Muncy ties a Dodgers’ postseason franchise record in Game 3 win
by Megan Garcia
Max Muncy is a Dodger home run king.
He crushed a solo home run off Mets reliever Tylor Megill in the ninth inning for his 13th career postseason homer in the Dodgers’ 8–0 win. He is now tied for the Dodgers’ all-time lead in postseason homers.
Corey Seager and Justin Turner sit alongside him.
“It’s a blessing, those are two really great players, really great Dodgers,” Muncy said. “Corey Seager basically single-handedly won us a World Series.”

Muncy started the 2024 postseason tied with Steve Garvey for third all-time in Dodger history with 10 home runs.
In Game 2 of the NLDS, Muncy tied Hall of Famer Duke Snider when he clubbed his 11th homer for second all-time.
Then, Muncy mashed his 12th postseason long ball in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series to sit alone for the second-most postseason Dodger home runs.
“It’s definitely a blessing to be on a team and organization that allows you to have those opportunities to reach those numbers,” Muncy said.
The veteran went 2-for-2 in Game 3 of the NLCS, while also working three walks against the Mets pitching staff. It was his second multi-hit game this postseason.

“Max had a huge game,” manager Dave Roberts said. “He continues to get on base (and) gets big hits.”
Muncy battled back from injury — like others on the Dodgers’ postseason roster — to be in the lineup for October baseball. He missed 80 regular-season games due to a right oblique strain.
But in mid-August, Muncy was back in the starting lineup. He slashed .245/.405/.520/.925 with six home runs and 20 RBI in 33 games in his return from the injured list.
The Dodgers were vocal about the need for Muncy’s bat — and his eyes — in the lineup as the postseason quickly approached.
In his last eight plate appearances, Muncy has reached base in each with the following:
- Home run
- Walk
- Walk
- Walk
- Single
