News We’ve All Been Waiting For

February 2, 2025 by Think Blue LA

Although it may have gone unspoken by many, it was something that has been on the mind of every Dodgers fan on the planet since the final out of the 2024 World Series was recorded on October 30, 2024 – two somethings, actually:

  1. Will 36-year-old Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw return to the only team that he has ever played for over his 17-year MLB career in 2025?
  2. Will the Dodgers re-sign huge fan-favorite (and now free-agent) utility infielder/outfielder Kiké Hernández for 2025?

For those at The Ravine for DodgerFest 2025 on Saturday (or watching it on SportsNet LA), and judging by this much anticipated tweet by Dodgers beat writer Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic (subscription required), it is a definite maybe to both questions.

“We’ve been in touch with Clayton and a lot of its been, you know, seeing how he’s feeling throwing before we pick up those conversations,” Dodgers General Manager Brandon Gomes told reporters. “So, he is throwing and, you know, starting to get in the swing of it, so our expectation is to have more conversations at an in-depth level here soon,” added Gomes.

As for Hernández, he has repeatedly said that he wants to return for a ninth season to the team with whom he has collected two World Series rings with over his eleven MLB seasons.

“From the moment I got to L.A., it was a humbling experience for me to have a fan base that embraces me and loves me the way that they do, the support,” the popular San Juan, Puerto Rico native told reporters on Saturday. “I’m a guy that I’m probably a better player than what the back of my card says numbers-wise. I bring more to the table than my stats, and the way that they love me, you’d think that I am the best player on the field each and every day I step on a baseball field.”,

“The door will never be closed on Kiké,” Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman said of Hernández during Saturday’s annual Fan Fest event.

News we’ve all been waiting for indeed.
