Let’s be real, Max Muncy’s 2025 season didn’t start the way anyone had hoped. His average was down, and he just didn’t look comfortable in the box. Some people started to doubt if he could get back to his old form or if he was going to be traded or released. But then came April 30, a pair of prescription glasses and a new look for Max. Yep, glasses, who knew that this could be the fix?
What Changed?
After getting an eye exam from Kiké’s doctor, they realized that Muncy had a bit of astigmatism in his right eye. Muncy decided to try something new and wear the glasses during games. He said his left eye was doing all the work, and the glasses helped take some pressure off. It might seem like a small thing, but the results don’t lie and have been HUGE.
Since putting the glasses on, Muncy has been on FIRE. He’s raised his batting average to .250, his on-base percentage is now .375, and he’s launched 8 home runs in that stretch.
The Grand Slam Moment
Fast forward to June 22, and Muncy had one of the best games of his entire career. He smashed not one, but two home runs against the Nationals, including a grand slam. He finished the game with 7 RBIs and helped lead the Dodgers to a 13–7 win. Muncy has made a tremendous amount of progress since the start of the year. If he keeps this up, the Dodgers are going to be an even bigger threat.
Are the Glasses a Secret Weapon?
So, are the glasses the magic fix? Muncy isn’t fully sold on that idea. He’s said he’s still working on his approach and trying to stay consistent. But even he admits it’s “hard to deny” how much better he’s been seeing and hitting the ball since April 30.
