Miguel Rojas Has ‘Full Trust’ In Dodgers Front Office

January 27, 2025 by Dodger Blue

Miguel Rojas had a career revival with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024 and played an important role to help get them to the postseason.

Not only did he have his best offensive season in years, but he also was in valuable as the next man up when Mookie Betts suffered a fractured left hand in June. Rojas contributed a .283/.337/.410 slash line while continuing his signature brand of defense at shortstop throughout the year.

After aggravating an injury during the National League Division Series, he did not make too many appearances the rest of the way as the Dodgers relied more on Tommy Edman.

Now with Betts making a full-time switch to shortstop and the newly signed Hyeseong Kim having the inside track to the second base job, Rojas appears to be headed back for a bench role in 2025.

Because of the trust he has in the Dodgers organization, it was a possibility that Rojas was prepared for and welcomed, he said during an appearance on The Chris Rose Rotation:

“At this point I have full trust of this organization. Now that I’ve been back for two years and I got to experience how they handle things on and off the field, I would never question what the Dodgers do. They do everything because they have a plan and really follow through with what they say. That’s one of the things I respect at an organization and out of the people who are making the decisions.”

Rojas is in the last year of his contract after the Dodgers picked up his club option for 2025. It is the final year of the 2-year, $11 million extension he signed with the team in 2023.

Next season will be his fourth in the Majors with the Dodgers, and his third since coming over from the Miami Marlins via trade prior to the 2023 season.

When the Dodgers first acquired him, the plan was for Rojas to be used in a utility role, which even included plans to play left field. At this stage, he’s likely to stick in the infield, but he has experience at all four spots on the dirt.

Miguel Rojas changes jersey number, allowing Roki Sasaki to wear No. 11

Rojas officially switched his jersey number back to No. 72, which he wore during his rookie season with the Dodgers. He had worn No. 11 with L.A. for the past two years.
