After spending nearly five weeks on the injured list and missing 25 games with a bone bruise on his left knee, the National League West first-place Los Angeles Dodgers activated soon-to-be (on August 25) 35-year-old Dodgers two-time All-Star third baseman Max Muncy prior to Tuesday’s game against the NL Central fourth-place St. Louis Cardinals at Dodger Stadium.
Good call, Dodgers.
All the Midland, TX native – who signed with the Dodgers as a free agent in 2017 – did was mash two home runs and drive in four runs in their 12-6 win over the Cardinals.
“It’s good to be back with the boys and, you know, do anything I can to help the team win,” Muncy told SportsNet LA’s Kirsten Watson after his remarkable 4-for-5 / two-home-run / four-RBI night.

But wait, there’s more.
Dodgers right fielder Teoscar Hernández also had a two-tater night – a third-inning solo mash to left off Mikolas immediately following Muncy’s two-run blast, and a three-run mash to center off of Cardinals right-hander Andre Granillo in the bottom of the seventh to give Dodgers manager Dave Roberts‘ team a (then) 9-3 lead.

“Looked really comfortable tonight,” Roberts said postgame of Hernández’s big night.
But wait, there’s even more!
Although Dodgers center fielder Andy Pages didn’t drive in any runs on Tuesday, he scored one of them and went 2-for-5 at the plate with two doubles.
“Andy took some good swings tonight, had a couple doubles,” Roberts said postgame of the 24-year-old La Habana, Cuba native.
And then there’s that Mookie Betts fellow. The extremely popular Dodgers infielder / outfielder went 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, and a walk. He also scored three of the Dodgers 12 runs.
“Mookie obviously had a huge night, been working hard, and so I think he can feel the support from the fans and his teammates, and really put forth a good effort tonight,” Roberts said of his future Hall of Famer.

Keep mashing them taters, boys!
Play Ball!
