On Monday evening MLB Trade Rumors reported on X.com that MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is considering implementing what he is calling “The Golden Bat Rule” for the 2025 season; a rule that would allow teams one opportunity per game to send any player to the plate to bat, regardless of their position in the batting order at that moment.
As you might expect, Manfred’s proposed rule change brought immediate (and occasionally profane) responses from baseball purists on social media, thus adding to his legacy of being among the worst (or at the very least, most unpopular) Commissioners in the 155-year history of the game.
This, of course, brings to mind the old adage: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Hey Rob:
It Ain’t Broke.
