In a word: Unacceptable.
For the second time in as many days, 35-year-old Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy was hit by a pitch thrown by a San Francisco Giants pitcher. And though both pitchers (32-year-old right-hander Joey Lucchesi and 32-year-old right-hander Matt Gage respectively) will emphatically insist that neither was intentional, you will be hard pressed to convince Dodgers fans otherwise.
If you recall, back on June 9, 2019, Muncy hit a home run off of then 29-year-old much-hated (by Dodgers fans) Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner that splashed down in McCovey Cove. Incensed by Muncy’s slow and deliberate home run trot around the bases, the hot-headed Giants hurler yelled at Muncy “Don’t watch the ball, run,” to which Muncy immediately yelled back with his famous “Go get it out of the ocean.” That brief but heated interaction between the two remains in the minds of every Dodgers and Giants player and fan to this very day.

Including Sunday’s series finale with The Hated Ones, there are five regular season games still remaining between two of MLB’s fiercest rivals, with the Giants vying for a playoff Wild Card slot.
