When the new City Connect uniform was unveiled last season, it coincided with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation hosting a special event and game for members that are part of the organization’s programs.
A second annual Dodgers City Connect Showcase was held this past weekend, with Kirsten Watson, Blake Snell and Will Smith among those on hand at John Muir High School in Pasadena.
This year’s showcase featured a softball game for the first time, with the 2024 Dodgers Dreamteam Nike RBI Regionals softball team facing playing against the John Muir High School varsity squad.
Dodger Stadium public address announcer Todd Leitz and DJ Severe helped recreate the atmosphere from Dodgers home games. Players wore the Dodgers City Connect jersey, and Smith and Snell served as assistant coaches.
“It’s cool to see how much it means to them,” Snell said. “It’s a cool event, and anytime you can get on a baseball field or softball field, you’re winning. It’s fun to watch the girls show their talent off.”
Coinciding with the showcase was one of five scheduled community resource events for players and their families during the 2025 Dodgers Dreamteam season. In response to the Eaton Fire, the Dodger Day offered health screenings, educational programs, and basic essentials to the Pasadena and Altadena communities.
“It was a great day,” Smith said. “John Muir High School, where Jackie Robinson went, and obviously this area was affected by the wildfires. So to be out here supporting these girls, some good softball players, just having some fun and giving back to the community.”
The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, along with sponsor Bank of America, presented separate $10,000 checks to two local small businesses that were severely impacted during the Eaton Fire: The Little Red Hen Coffee Shop and Niecy’s Delights.
The donations were part of the Dodgers’ ongoing efforts throughout the season to support communities that were impacted by the wildfires.
