When you peruse the list of the Dodgers 24 non-roster invitees to Spring Training 2025 and in addition to 23-year-old international superstar right-hander Roki Sasaki, there is one other name that jumps out at you. It is, of course, that of 24-year-old right-hander Jared Karros, who was selected by the Dodgers in the 16th round out of UCLA in 2022.
Jared is the son of former Dodgers first baseman Eric Karros, who also attended UCLA and spent 14 seasons in The Bigs (12 with the Dodgers), during which he was named the National League Rookie of the Year and won a Silver Slugger 1992. Eric finished fifth in NL MVP voting in 1995 and finished his career with a respectable .268/.324/.454/.779 slash line that included 284 home runs and 1,027 RBIs. Eric currently serves as a broadcaster/analyst for Spectrum SportsNet LA.
Welcome (back) to the Dodgers family, Jared!
