Sunday in the Dodgers minor leagues, Ferris had a scoreless outing for Tulsa, and Josue De Paula homered in a Great Lakes victory
In Dodgers’ minor league action for Saturday, June 21st, we have a shutout in Tulsa, the end of a nine-game winning streak at Rancho Cucamonga, and someone named Chuckie Robinson hitting a game-changing home run.
Player of the day
Jackson Ferris, the team’s top pitching prospect according to MLB Pipeline, has struggled this season. He started off the season with two good starts, giving up just two runs in ten innings. Then he was placed on the developmental list, and we didn’t see him for twelve days. The same developmental list they put Jared Karros on, and he’s never been the same since (not in a good way). In Ferris’s first game back, he gave up seven runs while getting four outs. In eight starts since then, he has given up at least three runs in all but two of them. So, for getting through three and two-thirds innings without giving up a run, we’ll give him POTD, even if it took him an inefficient 85 pitches to do it.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
The Comets spotted the Round Rock Express three runs in the second inning, but the bullpen kept the Express scoreless from there, and the team was able to come back and win by a score of 4-3. The big hit was a two-run homer by DH Chuckie Robinson.

Edgardo Henriquez pitched a scoreless eighth, and former major league closer Alexis Diaz pitched a scoreless ninth and got credited with the save.
Double-A Tulsa
The Drillers shut out the Midland RockHounds (Athletics) 4-0. Ferris got through three and two-thirds innings, surrendering just one hit, striking out six, and walking four. The Drillers scored single runs in four different innings, piecing together nine singles and five walks to manufacture their four runs.
High-A Great Lakes
The Loons defeated the Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals) 8-6. Loons starter Sean Linan had a nightmare of a second inning, surrendering a single, three doubles, and a home run as the Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals) scored five runs. But Linan settled down to retire eight of his last nine hitters, striking out the last two on seven pitches. The bullpen only gave up one run the rest of the way, allowing the Great Lakes Loons to come back and win the game. The Loons scored three runs in the third inning on four walks and a two-run single by Kyle Nevin, who also tripled home a run in the fourth to get the Loons within one.

The Chiefs tied the game in the top of the eighth, but in the bottom of the inning, another parade of walks ultimately led to two runs, and Carson Hobbs closed the game out with a scoreless ninth for his fifth save. Payton Martin, who pitched three innings in relief, giving up one run on three hits, got credit for the win.
Low-A Rancho Cucamonga
The Lake Elsinore Storm held on to defeat the Quakes 6-5, breaking Rancho Cucamonga’s nine-game winning streak. The way to beat the 42-26 Quakes is to hold Eduardo Quintero hitless, which happened for only the fifth time in his last forty-one games, all losses.
