The Dodgers on Monday traded infielder Gavin Lux to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for a Competitive Balance Round A pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft and outfield prospect Mike Sirota.
Lux, 30, has spent his entire career with Los Angeles after being selected in the first round (20th pick overall) in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Indian Trail High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
In 2024, Lux slashed .251/.320/.383/.703 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI in 139 games. Lux missed the entire 2023 season after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee in Spring Training.
In 412 career games since his Major League debut in 2019, Lux slashed .252/.326/.383/.709 with 28 home runs and 155 RBI.
The Reds selected Sirota in the third round of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of Northeastern University in Boston. The Dodgers previously picked Sirota in the 16th round of the 2021 draft out of the Frederick Gunn School in Washington, Connecticut, but he did not sign.
In 51 games at Northeastern in 2024, the 6-foot-3, 188-pound native of Mineola, New York slashed .298/.473/.513/.986 with three home runs and 37 RBI. He finished his collegiate career playing 143 games, batting .324/.458/.577/1.035 with 29 homers and 111 RBI, stealing 48 bases in 57 attempts and walking 120 times against 126 strikeouts.
Sirota was ranked 14th on the Reds MLB Pipeline prospect rankings.
