How to make the most of your game day experience in Los Angeles

This supplement to On the Road with Eli(zondo) and Adric answers that all-important follow up question: So you’ve going to Dodger Stadium but you have the day to spend in Los Angeles — now what?

In this sponsored supplement to the Los Angeles portion of the Guide, we fully flesh out a paragraph from its pages:

Now, if you forego a vehicle and focus on using the Dodger Stadium Express and ridesharing, I recommend staying in Little Tokyo and then walking to Union Station to catch the Dodger Stadium Express.

The Guide has the following to say about Los Angeles in general:

Los Angeles is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big Los Angeles is. [The Guide continues this way for some time, which has been shortened for brevity.]

Multiple metropolitan areas can fit within the city limits of Los Angeles and still have plenty of space left over, including St. Louis, Milwaukee, Boston, San Francisco, Minneapolis, and the island of Manhattan. However, if we included the entire Los Angeles metropolitan area, this map would not be adequate in covering the area in question; to paraphrase a Hollywood classic, we would need a bigger map.

So yes, you can see the sights of Santa Monica, Hollywood, and Beverly Hills on a single visit to Los Angeles, but be prepared to spend most of your time commuting. With this fact in mind, your best bet would be to stay near Dodger Stadium if you visit Los Angeles to see the stadium.

The first obstacle one will usually encounter upon arriving in Los Angeles, especially by plane, is exiting Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). LAX is a region unto itself, recently upgraded with local train access, which will be fully online in 2026.

As discussed in the Guide’s Dodger Stadium portion, there are only parking lots near Dodger Stadium. So, instead, why not enjoy Little Tokyo, a neighborhood with hotels near Union Station in the heart of Los Angeles?

As you can see from the above map, Little Tokyo has a variety of shops, museums, galleries, and restaurants in the heart of one of the largest Japanese-American populations in North America. One of the main draws of Little Tokyo for Dodger fans is the Shohei Ohtani mural on the side of the Miyako Hotel.

Those who love architecture cannot pass up the venerable Union Station in the heart of Los Angeles.

Union Station is a central transportation hub for Los Angeles. The terminal is also the main starting point for Dodger Stadium Express, a free bus service that takes fans to and from Dodger Stadium after every home game.

The station, which has connections to LA Metro, Greyhound, and Amtrak, is influenced by timeless Art Deco design. For a unique way to experience Union Station, Pharrell Williams shot an entire hour of his 24-hour Happy music video entirely within Union Station.

Enjoy seeing Union Station with a catchy soundtrack from the comfort of your home.

Try the included link for those who want the walkthrough without the soundtrack.

Once you finally get to Dodger Stadium, the views of the Los Angeles skyline have to be seen to be believed, but few shots are more memorable than the one taken from a unique vantage point in 2018.

Wow.

As you can see, Los Angeles truly has much to offer visiting baseball fans.
