The date was June 18, 2014 – a little over 11 years ago almost to the day. A then 26-year-old Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw pitched a perfect game against the Colorado Rockies in front of a modest Dodger Stadium crowd of 46,069. Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully told his listeners and viewers:
“There is one out to go, one miserable, measly out. 0-and 2. Got him! He’s done it. Clayton Kershaw pitches a no-hitter!”

The date was July 2, 2025 – yesterday. A now 37-year-old still Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw recorded his 3,000th career strike out in front of a very sold out Dodger Stadium crowd of 53,536 – one of only 20 pitchers in MLB history to do so.
One can only imagine what Scully, the single greatest broadcaster of all time, would have said of Kershaw’s historic accomplishment – but you know it would have been equally historic and classic.

Kershaw joins Hall of Famers CC Sabathia, Steve Carlton and Randy Johnson as only the fourth left-hander to reach this historic milestone.
