Teoscar Hernández is on another tear.
Hernández had two big-impact hits on Sunday, including a walk-off single in the 10th inning to lead the Dodgers to a 6–5 win and sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
The Dodger outfielder, after his 2-for-5 game that also included a two-run double in the second inning, has a .432/.475/.919/1.394 in nine games this month.
Teoscar Hernández smoked a sharp line drive in the 10th inning against Pirates reliever David Bednar to drive in Kiké Hernández, who was 3-for-5 on the day.

The series against Pittsburgh saw the prowess of Hernández’s hitting. During Saturday’s win, he blasted a home run among his three hits while going 3-for-4 at the plate. The hits didn’t stop coming on Sunday.
“I’m trying to not overthink it or over swing or anything like that. I try to stay patient, be calm and just get a good pitch to put it in play,” Hernández said. “In situations like that with two outs, I don’t have to do a double or homer or anything like. With a hit, we can win a ballgame.”
Even after the sweep, the Dodgers’ lead in the NL West is 3 1/2 games over San Diego and Arizona.
“It’s hard to win a Major League baseball game. The teams in our division are fighting tooth and nail. They’re very good ball clubs,” manager Dave Roberts said. “We still control our own fate. The thing for us is just to continue to play good baseball.”
The Dodgers held a 4–2 lead over the Pirates into the eighth inning before Pittsburgh tied the game with a two-run home run by Andrew McCutchen off left-handed reliever Anthony Banda. Tyler Glasnow was no longer in line for the decision of the game, but his efforts on the mound weren’t unnoticed.
Glasnow went seven innings, allowed five hits, one walk, two earned runs and struck out four.
“I just felt that today he was in complete control, kept his poise, continued to make pitches, and was efficient through seven,” Roberts said. “Seven complete and as it turns out, we needed every bit of it.”

“I definitely knew I had to go deep into the game,” Glasnow said. “Luckily having that slider, I was able to keep that pitch count relatively low.”
Ryan Shut Down for the Season
River Ryan’s one-out fastball to Yasmani Grandal in the fifth inning was his last pitch on Saturday night. It also turned out to be his final of the 2024 season.
Roberts announced Sunday morning that the rookie right-hander would be shut down for the season. Following the win, Roberts shared Ryan was diagnosed with a UCL strain.
“I don’t know which grade it is,” Roberts said. “All I know is that this is going to end the season.”
Ryan, 25, started four games for the Dodgers and had a 1.33 ERA in 20 1/3 innings.
He was removed from Saturday night’s game due to right forearm tightness.
