As a surprise to no one, it was reported on Thursday that 31-year-old Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin had been designated for assignment by the Dodgers:

Although Gonsolin posted a 3-2 record in his seven starts with the Dodgers in 2025, he had a less-than-stellar 5.00 ERA, having allowed 21 runs (20 earned) while surrendering nine home runs. He also walked 18 of the 157 opposing batters he faced in his combined 36.0 innings pitched during the 2025 regular season while striking out 38.

As noted, the Dodgers also outright released 28-year-old outfielder Justin Dean and 28-year-old right-hander Michael Grove, also not unexpected moves by the Dodgers.
In a counter move, the Dodgers added 27-year-old outfielder Ryan Ward and 25-year-old left-hander Robinson Ortiz (how’s that for a baseball name) to their 40-man roster.

It’s safe to say that there will be additional moves made by Dodgers President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman before pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training on February 11, 2026 at Camelback Ranch – Glendale.
The Hot Stove is officially lit.
