Former infielder Larry Burright, whose lone season with the Dodgers coincided with the opening of Dodger Stadium in 1962, passed away on Tuesday after a brief illness. He was 88.
The Dodgers signed Burright before the 1957 season as an amateur free agent after he played at Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra and Fullerton College.
Burright in 1962 slashed .205/.264/.317/.581 in 115 games with four home runs and 30 RBI.
On Nov. 30, 1962, Los Angeles traded Burright to the New York Mets in exchange for pitcher Bob Miller. Burright played 44 games with the Mets in 1963 and 1964. He played one more season with the Mets’ Triple-A Buffalo affiliate in 1965 before retiring.
Burright later became a longtime carpenter in Glendora. He also attended several Dodger Oldtimers Day reunions, including a 40th anniversary of Dodger Stadium celebration on Opening Day 2002.
