Five Dodgers were named to the National League All-Star team, more than any other team in the majors. The midsummer classic will be played on Tuesday, July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
Shohei Ohtani received the most fan votes in the National League, earning his fifth consecutive All-Star start at designated hitter.
Freddie Freeman was voted to start at first base for the fifth time, and second with the Dodgers. It’s his ninth All-Star nod, including all four years since joining the Dodgers.
Will Smith made his third consecutive All-Star team, and this year was voted by fans to start the game for the first time.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto was an MLB selection to the NL All-Star roster as starting pitcher. Because he is starting on Saturday, July 13 in San Francisco, he will be inelligible to pitch in the All-Star Game. Reds lefty Andrew Abbott was named as a roster replacement.
Clayton Kershaw was selected by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred as a “legend pick” for the game, the 11th All-Star nod fo Kershaw, most in Dodgers franchise history.
