Former Dodger pitcher Reyes Moronta passes away at 31

Former Dodger relief pitcher Reyes Moronta, who appeared in 22 games with Los Angeles in 2022, passed away on Sunday in an automobile accident in his native Dominican Republic, according to multiple reports. He was 31.

Moronta spent parts of six seasons in the Major Leagues with the Giants (2017–22), Dodgers (2022), Diamondbacks (2022) and Angels (2023).
The Dodgers signed Moronta as a free agent on March 12, 2022. He went 0–0 with a 4.18 ERA in 22 games. On June 26, Moronta retired all six batters he faced in the Dodgers’ 5–3 victory in 11 innings over the Braves in Atlanta.
In 177 career appearances, Moronta compiled a 10–11 record and 3.05 ERA, including 202 strikeouts in 171 1/3 innings.
Moronta recently had been pitching for the Bravos de Leon of the Mexican League.
