Sheehan was perfect with 13 strikeouts to capture Pacific Coast League honors, while the 2024 draft pick Harlan his three home runs and three doubles in four games in Arizona
A pair of Dodgers minor leaguers won awards on Monday for their work over the last week. Emmet Sheehan captured Pacific Coast League pitcher of the week in Triple-A, and third baseman Chase Harlan was Arizona Complex League player of the week at the rookie level.
Sheehan, who returned from Tommy John surgery to make one start with the Dodgers before getting optioned, was perfect for six innings for Oklahoma City last Wednesday in Sacramento, striking out a professional career-high 13 batters.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters in Kansas City over the weekend that Sheehan would make another start with Oklahoma City before a possible return to the major league rotation.
Sheehan is the third Comets player to win a weekly award this season, along with infielder Michael Chavis for April 7-13 and outfielder James Outman from April 21-27.
It’s the second minor league award in Sheehan’s career. He was named Texas League pitcher of the month for May 2023 in Double-A, shortly before making his major league debut.
In the Arizona Complex League, Dodgers third baseman Chase Harlan won player of the week after hitting three home runs and three doubles in four games, driving in eight runs while hitting .389/.421/1.056 last week.
Harlan homered twice last Tuesday against the ACL Royals at Camelback Ranch, the first of three consecutive games with multiple extra-base hits.
The Dodgers’ third-round pick last year out of high school in Pennsylvania, Harlan this season is hitting .306/.361/.546 with a 127 wRC+, 11 doubles, five home runs, and 32 RBI in 29 games in his professional debut. He turns 19 on July 9.
