Dodgers minor league shortstop Emil Morales on Monday was named player of the week in the Arizona Complex League after a wildly productive week in the desert.
Morales had 11 hits in 19 at-bats in six games last week, including two doubles, a home run, seven walks, four multi-hit games, nine runs scored, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

The 18-year-old Morales was highly regarded since he headlined the Dodgers international class in January 2024. Then he won MVP in the Dominican Summer League.
Kiley McDaniel at ESPN rated Morales as the 80th-best prospect in the sport prior to this season, and Morales was just outside of MLB Pipeline top 100.
On the season in Arizona, Morales is hitting .37/.399/.519 with a 138 wRC+, 11 doubles, seven home runs, three triples, 35 RBI, and 46 runs scored in 47 games. He also won ACL player of the week for the week of May 19-25.
Morales headlined the Baseball America prospect hot sheet on Monday with his recent performance.
“The fly in the ointment is the 25.6% strikeout rate he produced during the same period, and evaluators believe swinging and missing might always be a significant part of his game,” Josh Norris wrote. “Even so, his last five weeks point toward his massive offensive upside.”
The recent Morales hot streak has lasted over three weeks, hitting an eye-popping .471/.538/.735 with nine doubles and three home runs over his last 17 games, the kind of performance that could land Morales in Low-A Rancho Cucamonga sooner rather than later. Especially with only two weeks remaining in the Arizona Complex League schedule.
