Things are looking ugly for the LA Dodgers as injuries continue to mount. Now, their slugger Teoscar Hernandez will likely be next on the IL. Yesterday, the Dodgers lost another starter, Gavin Stone, to a shoulder injury. They also lost starters Dustin May, Tyler Glasnow, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Hernandez was injured in yesterday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians. He was hit by a pitch that hit his left foot/ankle.

Dodgers Slugger Likely To Land On IL
Hernandez’s Injury Weighs On Dodgers
The 31-year-old Dominican outfielder is a two-time All-Star (2021,2024) with 28 home runs, 87 RBIs, 10 stolen bases, and 140 hits this season. Hernandez was also ranked second on the team with RBIs. If Hernandez does go on the IL, it will be a significant loss for them. Hernandez was hit by starting pitcher Matthew Boyd, and he fell in pain, immediately holding onto his ankle. The Dodgers can’t catch a break with injuries, and two other teams that have taken a lot of hits from injuries this season are the Baltimore Orioles and the Atlanta Braves. It’s unfortunate for Hernandez, who has been having an impressive season. The hit-by-pitch was scary, and the pitch was way out of the strike zone. Luckily, following scans on an X-ray on Hernandez, it came back negative.
However, Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts claimed that Hernandez was “not great” following the injury. His injury will continue to be evaluated, and it will be determined if he will officially land on the IL. With Hernandez likely to be placed on the IL, this could be the opportunity for them to call up Dalton Rushing. Overall, Rushing has recorded decent numbers with both AA and AAA. With both leagues combined, he has recorded a batting average of .274 with 22 home runs and 76 RBIs. Rushing could play a pivotal role offensively in this late stretch that remains in the season.
